The measurement utilized for the elastic ends up being incorrectly since the disappointment pace of an elastic is truly low runing from 2 to 4 for every centum whenever utilized right. The contrasting utilized between the lives of riders in a plane to the disappointment of an elastic utilized by any being is far away since rubbers sold as a product are demonstrated to chop down the chances of developments and now and again STDs. This device is uneffective since the insights of the elastic disappointment is sketchy and the similarity of a plane since stocks are made to be protected and would be stopped in the event that it has bombed its measures. Limbaugh makes a violative character all through the exposition as he utilizes outlines, for example, Magic Johnson or Johnnie and Susie as a way to prod the opposition by rebuting the announcement commonly all through the article. Since we can non pounce upon a decline advertisement absurdum by demonstrating out its pitiful nature it demonstrates a point inside itself and as Limbaugh talks about how condom appropriation can bargain our measures. he demonstrates a point that the opposition is eager to acknowledge that teenagers will hold sex no undertaking what and it is non aiding the bar of STDs. His use of this device is strong as he asserts that condom circulation in schools can bargain measures and have it lead from holding sex to smoke and the use of firearms. It can other than take them to constriction STDââ¬â¢s since rubbers can non aid the bar of STDââ¬â¢s and AIDS. The general character can end up being violative to a peruser or his obstruction however demonstrates a point since his push to invalidate the opposition can end up being difficult to reason against. Should Convicted Male Child Molesters Be Physically Castrated
There are many people who know of someone who has been the victim of sexual assault. Likewise, millions of people are sexual assault victims themselves. With there being so many cases of assault, the criminal justice system is faced with the hard task of deciding on the correct punishment for the convicted offenders. One option of punishment for a male child molester is to have them physically castrated. Convicted male child molesters should most certainly receive strong punishment, but physical castration should be reserved for the worst cases of sexual abuse. In one case of sexual assault, a New Jersey man named Jesse Timmendequas lured seven year old Megan Kanka into his home on July 29, 1994 with promises that she could see his puppyâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦If a registered sex offender never truly became clean of their perverted thoughts and sexual urges, they could once again bring harm. So knowing where the sex offenders are may or may not be very helpful. Along with taking precautions and forming laws, the justice system does try to give the proper punishment for convicted sex offenders. For example, 80% of offenders who were sentenced in the past 6 years have received a custodial sentence (Facts Sheet: Statistics about Sexual Assault, 2014). The average sentence was 4 years, 6 months to 5 years, 6 months. The middle ground was 5 years. On average, sentences for convicted sex offenders can range anywhere from just 12 months to as long as 20 years. Anyone who has been the victim of sexual assault would probably say that even 20 years is not enough; and castration might seem to be the best form of punishment for their assaulter. Castration would serve its purpose if a convicted offender is sentenced to it. One man named James Jenkins had molested three young girls and right before he was going to be sent to a special facility, he took a razor and physically castrated himself. He stated that, ââ¬Å"Castration has done precisely what I wanted it to do. I have not had any sexual urges, or desires in over two years. My mind is finally free of the deviant sexual fantasies I used to have about young girls.â⬠(Sex Offenders: Will Tough, New Laws Do More Harm ThanShow MoreRelatedChemical Castration Essay4712 Words à |à 19 Pagesrecidivism rates of sex offenders. Visceral and frightening movie Essay Example For Students
Visceral and frightening movie Essay Do you believe in destiny? that even the powers of time can be altered for one single purpose the happiest man that walks this earth is the one that finds true love! stated by the main character, Count Dracula in Francis Ford Coppolas sumptuous, visceral and frightening movie Dracula. The director portrays the message that true love is eternal, invincible, and persuasive. If love is not fulfilled in life then it is effectuated afterlife, even if one has to become the servant of darkness. This determines the ceaseless conflict between pure and evil and how virtue always prevails. Initially, love can make one do such activities that can hurt one and it is also capable of causing one to experience a long period of obscurity. For instance, Vlad the Impaler, a count and vicious warrior, leaves his home in Transylvania and goes off to fight in the Crusades. Falsely hearing of his death; his wife Elisabeta commits suicide. However, a monk tells the returning Dracula taking ones life is against Gods law and her soul is damned therefore she cannot go to heaven. In anger, Vlad renounces God Is this how you repay me? We will write a custom essay on Visceral and frightening movie specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now I deny you I will rise from my grave and revenge her death with all the powers of darkness her blood is now my life! This quote proves that the love for Elisabeta has made Dracula angry and he promises to take revenge from God, lacking thoughts of what he is saying even though God is the most powerful existed. Furthermore, Dracula injures the cross by stabbing it with his sword, showing hatred towards Gods force. The church happens to bleed and Dracula drinks from the fountain of blood. The blood is life and it shall be mine. This quote begins the journey of his life as Count Dracula, embracing Satan in exchange for immortality since the death of Elisabeta turns his world upside down reasoning Dracula to take an evil phase. In addition, this iniquity side of him views things very different in contrast to the majority of the world around him. For example, Jonathan Harker leaves fiance Mina and journeys to Transylvania to meet Count Dracula to complete a real estate transaction. Jonathan dines while Dracula refuses, You must excuse me, but I have already dined. And I never drink wine. At this point, Dracula clearly demonstrates that he has changed when refuses to drink wine given that he now only drinks blood. He has adjusted greatly over time due to the past events occurred in his life; that he views things completely opposite of others, as proof listen to them the children of night. What sweet music they make! For Dracula, the wolves are the children of night and they make sweet music to him where as Jonathan is irritated and feared by the wolves because he has been followed by them throughout his journey to Draculas castle. Hence, it is obvious that love can cause one to go against the norm without thinking of what he/she is doing and the consequences of that action. Additionally, if ones love is not attained, it creates a major conflict between the sinful and the pure around. For illustration, Dracula makes free-spirited Lucy a blood-sucking disciple and starts continuous battle involving the iniquitous and the humble. Moreover, Professor Helsing then vows to hunt down and destroy Dracula forever. He illuminates, Mr. Morris, your bullets will not harm him. He must beheaded. I suggest that you use your big Bowie knife. This confirms Van Helsing leading the group of men on a quest to Carthax Abbey to destroy Dracula. Thus, under these conditions it is clear that the continuous struggle between evil and pure is caused by a heart broken lover. Of even greater interest, James A. Baldwin quotes Love does not begin and end the way we seem to think it does. Love is a battle, love is a war; love is a growing up. This quote is similar to that of Draculas situation; seeing that he is fighting with the rest of the world to attain his true love. Not only that, true love is always accomplished, never quits thus prevails any problems raised. For example, Dracula does not renounce the search of his love. He arranges a chance meeting with Mina and introduces himself as Prince Vlad. Ive crossed oceans of time to find you says Prince Vlad to Mina who is at once frightened by, but charmed and attracted to the handsome prince. They often meet, and Mina starts getting close to him. Its your voice perhaps so familiar. Its like a voice and a dream I can not replace it comforts me when Im alone. This quote shows the creation of feelings in Minas heart towards Dracula. Subsequently, Mina rushes to Romania to marry Jonathan and Dracula needless to say he is devastated, then understandably angry. However, Mina can not take Prince Vlad out of her mind. My strange friend is with me Mina begins to think of him constantly and still carries a little hope for Prince Vlad to approach her life once more. Her desire is fulfilled one night, when Prince enters as green mist, and Mina says, I wanted this to happen I want to be with you always. This quote explains the two lovers reuniting, and here he tells her the truth. Theres no life in this body. I am the monster breathing men want to kill I am Dracula. Mina recognizes that he has killed Lucy; she hits him in anger, and still accepts: I love you. I want to be what you are. See what you see-love what you love. At this point Mina proves that true love is always accomplished and Dracula next states Then I give you eternal Everlasting love. The power of the storm and the beast of the earth. Walk with me to be my loving wife forever. This quote illustrates his love attaining since he now is about to make Mina his wife who is ready to give up everything for her love, she proclaims in deep passion, You are my love and my life always. Additionally, Dracula wounds his chest with his finger and responds, Mina drink join me in the eternal life This quote shows these lovers are impulsive since she is married still carries on and drinks blood from his chest, while he has his arms wide open. No! I can not let this be I love you too much to condemn you. .uf376ce35e8d90dcc5e2cd913b6425f9e , .uf376ce35e8d90dcc5e2cd913b6425f9e .postImageUrl , .uf376ce35e8d90dcc5e2cd913b6425f9e .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uf376ce35e8d90dcc5e2cd913b6425f9e , .uf376ce35e8d90dcc5e2cd913b6425f9e:hover , .uf376ce35e8d90dcc5e2cd913b6425f9e:visited , .uf376ce35e8d90dcc5e2cd913b6425f9e:active { border:0!important; } .uf376ce35e8d90dcc5e2cd913b6425f9e .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uf376ce35e8d90dcc5e2cd913b6425f9e { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uf376ce35e8d90dcc5e2cd913b6425f9e:active , .uf376ce35e8d90dcc5e2cd913b6425f9e:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uf376ce35e8d90dcc5e2cd913b6425f9e .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uf376ce35e8d90dcc5e2cd913b6425f9e .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uf376ce35e8d90dcc5e2cd913b6425f9e .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uf376ce35e8d90dcc5e2cd913b6425f9e .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uf376ce35e8d90dcc5e2cd913b6425f9e:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uf376ce35e8d90dcc5e2cd913b6425f9e .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uf376ce35e8d90dcc5e2cd913b6425f9e .uf376ce35e8d90dcc5e2cd913b6425f9e-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uf376ce35e8d90dcc5e2cd913b6425f9e:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Terminator 2 "Judgement Day" Analysis Essay This quote explains that he loves her excessively and can not allow her to be treated similar to how he has always treated by others so Dracula refuses to take Mina among him. At the same time, Mina argues take me with you please. At this point, it is clear that Mina loves him deeply so commences to drink from his chest once again. Accordingly, Draculas long lost love, Elisabeta in re-embodiment as Mina is obtained after numerous inconveniences and proves that true love does not quit under any circumstances and constantly overcomes struggles. As a consequence, passionate love is endless and influential. It is clear that love is fulfilled no matter what, even if one has to go against Gods will and enter the world of shadows. A heart broken lover can appear as evil or pure since it does anything to reach its destiny-love. Dracula is portrayed as the deadly bloodsucker and as a lonely soul determined to reunite with his lost love. The movie Dracula is a tale of humanity, love and despair. Smiley Blantons following quote relates back to this entire move, love is the immortal flow of energy that nourishes, extends and preserves. Its eternal gaol is life. It also makes one wonder if Dracula can really be considered a villain. The opening scenes portray him as a great soldier, who returns to his castle to find his true love dead, the victim of suicide, damned by God for eternity. An infuriated Dracula promises vengeance against the Lord, after which, many centuries later, he calls upon a London real estate office to close a deal on property in the city. His quest for his true love takes on a greater meaning, as he will stop at nothing to return to her. Hence, his true love prevails through its purity and innocence. So could Dracula really be considered the villain through out the whole movie?

Mary Shellyââ¬â¢s Frankenstein as Science Fiction and Allegory Literature Essay Example
Mary Shellyââ¬â¢s Frankenstein as Science Fiction and Allegory Literature Essay Example of Romanticism. By seeing a creature as Victors double, it is possible to consider their differences and similarities. While Frankenstein is initially a purely rational person, a man of science, the creature is rather a child of nature. Rejected by society, the monster seeks retreat in nature, which is his only resort. The author demonstrates what can happen if a person is not willing to accept all parts of his personality and tries to oust any of them. Another way to treat Frankenstein is mythology, but in this context it is close to science fiction. Frankenstein is a secular myth, with no metaphysical machinery, no gods, the creation is from mortal bodies with the assistance of electricity, not spirit; and the deaths are not pursued beyond the grave (Levine 4). So, this kind of mythology is based on science, because the author tries to use scientific inventions as the main media of the story. In fact, the monster is the only supernatural element of the novel, because his creation is surrounded by mystery despite the use of human corpses and electricity. At the same time, the behavior of the monster has nothing beyond rational reality. He kills people but he has no supernatural powers. In fact, he is a supernatural creature which lives and acts in a purely rational world and does not have any touch of magic. This absence of magical features makes the tragedy of the monster even deeper, because he is not perceived as a wizard but just as an alien or outcast. Indeed, the tragedy of the monster is that he is very human in all ways but his own race does not accept him. The author demonstrates how loneliness and despair lead to gradual loss of humanity, thus blaming society for creating monsters. Cruelty and indifference are thus shown to be moral ground for monstrosity, so in this sense the novel is a story about the environment shaping an individual. In conclusion, it is worth saying that the novel Frankenstein is one of the pioneers in science fiction genre. The epoch of industrial revolution contributed to this genre emergence as a reflection of societys concerns and expectations. However, one cannot claim that the novel is a pure example of science fiction because it has elements of the supernatural and gothic, and is also influenced by the aesthetics and ethics of Romanticism. Science looks ambiguous in the novel; it is a forbidden fruit of knowledge that can bring both blessing and curse. Knowledge is power, indeed, but humans may appear to be not strong enough to deal with that power properly. In fact, the issue of responsibility is a crucial message in the novel and remains up to date for further generations.

Master data and data warehousing and business intelligence management Essay
Master data and data warehousing and business intelligence management - Essay Example This project necessitates different activities performed by various departments; sequence of these activities and the necessary requirements in each activity before a patient receives the services of the doctor (Berson 2011). Reference data will include patient name, age, ethnicity, past medical records, body temperature, blood pressure and any other relevant individual data deemed necessary before a patient receives treatment. Taking the above into account, there is need to understand the relevant personnel require to gather the necessary data, feed it into a system and order in which such data is gathered. Data Sources, Contributors and Data Integration Architecture; Data sources may be primary or secondary in reference to the situation at hand (ibm, R 2012). Main sources of data in this integration model are patient records, parts of which are filled prior to the treatment and others during treatment. Other sources include first-hand information provided by patients, and other observable traits such as skin colour, hair texture and colour among others. Main contributors of data in this model are the patients being attended too. They are the primary core contributors, without them the organization will not be functioning. Others contributors include employees who attend to these patients, because their services make it possible to interact with the sources. Data convolution is the main reason why data integration needs architecture (Cervo 2011). Architecture engaged in this system should allow data integration effects in which data flows from diverse sources, through multiple transformations as it gets ready to load on the target system such as patient data hubs. Staging areas should be made possible because data does not flow uninterrupted, that is in a straight line (Berson 2011). Data integration architecture is better understood to mean the pattern developed

Managing and training a global workforce Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Managing and training a global workforce - Essay Example Due to the importance of training companies have to device ways to become more effective at training a global workforce. The managing of employees internationally requires the use of sound management techniques. The business structure of a company affects the way employees are managed. Centralized and decentralized management systems function very differently. In a centralized management system all decisions are made at the top level, while in a decentralized system employees are also involved in the decision making (Blurit). Getting employees involved is a great way to instill confidence in the workers and to establish good labor relations. There are different factors that affect a companyââ¬â¢s abilities to manage a global workforce. Four of those factors are cultural differences, language, currency differences, and regulatory variations (Gordon). The cultural differences among workforces affect a companyââ¬â¢s ability to manage its workforce. Japanese culture is very male or iented. It would not be a good strategy for an American company to put an American woman in charge of a Japanese factory. In the United States women have equal employment opportunity, but there still exist a glass ceiling for women to get into managerial positions. During the next five years there will be more women at the top managerial positions of companies. ... Regulatory variations affect the way a company manages a global staff. The normal work week in France is 35 hours, while in the United States the normal work week is 40 hours (Itodt). The training of employees in global settings is extremely important. Due to the distance barriers companies that have headquarters in the United States or Europe have to adapt their strategies to train its staff located across the 200 countries in the world. A technique that can help multinational corporations implement training sessions faster and in a more efficient manner is the use of online training tools. An online training can be created customized to the needs of the global staff. Language barriers can be eliminated by creating the training in the native language of the population. One of the advantages of online training is the flexibility of implementation. Companies can choose to give the online lessons during working hours or to allow the employees to take the training sessions on their own time. Employees can assess the companyââ¬â¢s intranet online to take the training. In order to be fair and to motivate employees to take the training session seriously companies can pay financial incentives upon successful completion of an online training taken at home. Due to issues associated with cultural factors another option companies can utilize to train its global workforce is to hire domestic consulting companies from the foreign location. For example a US company would hire a HR consulting specialist in China to train the employees from its Chinese operation. The use of this strategy can achieve better results because these firms have special insight into the cultural factors that motivate the employees from

Germany experienced a period of political Essay Example for Free
Germany experienced a period of political Essay Political calm, spd canââ¬â¢t compromise, Hindenburg causing problems, lack of cooperation between parties causing polarisation but no outright revolutions that happened during 1919-24, growing foreign relations lorcano/treaty of berlin Economic development, result of lorcano meant breathing space from reparations also dawes and young plan and rentenmark ââ¬â dawes plan borrowed US money lead to increase in capital. Later though fulfilment still causing problems and unemployment pay is causing issues, increase in taxes Social progress, conservative right unhappy and manifests in literature and cinema expressing glory in WW1 contrasts with neue sachlichkiet modern Weimar culture, Bauhaus linking art and functionality. Highlighting social issues within Weimar Overall relative calm but lack of progress, economic development but in short term and social progress but not helping Weimar. The years 1924 to 1929 are often described as the ââ¬ËGolden yearsââ¬â¢ but it is debatable to what extent Germany actually experienced political calm, economic development and social progress during this time. Certainly there was not the turbulence of post-war Germany and the consequences of the crippling Versaille Treaty were not as harsh in this period but this does not mean it was a time of development and progress. It can be suggested that it was not a period ââ¬Ëof political calmââ¬â¢, there was certainly a lot of tension between the various political parties that made up the many coalition governments in this period, the failure of so many governments alone suggests that there were serious political issues. The narrowing of the interests of each party meant that it was becoming increasingly difficult for effective coalition governments to be formed. The SPD were especially difficult in this time as they were against compromising with the ââ¬Ëbourgeois partiesââ¬â¢ as they felt a change in ideals would occur and proposed policies like the Heidelberg Programme which would see private ownership of industry be taken over by social owners. Obviously many parties from the left felt this but the SPD had the largest amount of seats in the Reichstag, over 150 at their peak in the 20ââ¬â¢s, and therefore had the ability to put the government into a stalemate. The SPDââ¬â¢s inability to compromise makes the political stage even worse when Hindenburg is elected as presidentà in 1925. Hindenburg, being a veteran of the Franco-Prussian war and the general who won the battle of Tannenburg was already conservative and took as many steps as he could to reduce the power the SPD had. Hindenburg also believed the powers of the president should be unrestrained and even blocked a draft that would limit his ability to use Article 48. This incoduscive atmosphere meant that by the time the SPD were willing to cooperate with a coalition government, individual interests and polarisation of parties had developed and no one else was interested. Therefore this cannot be classed as a period of political calm due to the stagnant politica l system. However, it could be suggested that this tension is to be expected as people are still feeling the effects of the First World War and political calm could be defined by the lack of extreme political parties attempting to take over. When this era is compared to the years 1919 to 1924 it is by far a time of political calm as there were no outright attempts at revolution. The years before saw extreme right and left wing idealists try to take over and the fact that this was not attempted during the ââ¬Ëgolden yearsââ¬â¢ meant it was a time of relative political calm. This is not to mention the successes in Stresemannââ¬â¢s foreign policy, which put Germany back on track to becoming a serious European power once again. The admittance of Germany into the league of nations and the signing of various treaties, such as the Lorcano treaty, meant Germany were in a period of political calm; not experiencing the diplomatic humiliation of the years before. The various treaties signed by Stresemann also helped the economic development in this period. The Dawes gained significant investments from the US and the Young Plan reduced the reparations Germany would have to pay, and set a timescale for how long they would have to pay. This gave the country some ââ¬Ëbreathing spaceââ¬â¢ to repair and develop its own economy. The young plan, for example, reduced the amount they would have to pay by 1700 million marks than they would in conjunction with the Dawes plan. These plans, alongside the introduction of the rentenmark meant there was an increase in German capital in this period, which can certainly be classed as a period of economic development. Whilst there is definitely evidence of economic development in the mid-1920ââ¬â¢s it did also experience financial issues. The increase in unemployment, 15% of the workforce were unemployed by 1929, put a heavy strain on the welfare system of Weimar Germany. The institution for paying unemployment benefits had to borrow money from the Government, 342 million reichsmarks, and the parties could not agree how to find this money. The SPD would increase taxes while the DVP would cut benefits. This can be seen as a backwards move in economic development, as the system did not address the problem of unemployment, but just found more money to pay it, with the decision of how to pay for the unemployment benefits was delayed until 1930. This can be seen as the government almost shooting themselves in the foot and making a short term fix for a long term problem. This short-sightedness can also be argued to be found in Stresemannââ¬â¢s policies, for borrowing money from the US. An international financial crisis would leave over-dependant-on-America Germany in a high amount of debt, which is what happened when the Wall Street Crash occurred. Therefore it can be said that these years were a period of economic development, but that there would be little long term effect on the country from these developments. Social progress is probably the only contention that can be absolutely agreed with, with very influential movements like the Bauhaus dominating this period of time, summed up as Neue Schlachkliet. This movement, saw a progression in modern views and an attempt to undermine the Weimar government by exposing the issues faced through literature, theatre and film. The need for educational and social reform was well documented and although this did not bode well for the Weimar government it definitely showed progress in attitudes of the general public. The conservative nature of many Germans could still be found and also classed as a social progress in the form of anti-democratic writings and films that promoted the glory of the First World war. The two social ideas both grew in this period, but neither celebrated the Weimar Government so whilst it was undoubtedly social progress it was not productive for the Weimar republic. There is definitely a case for political calm, economic development and social progress in the mid-1920ââ¬â¢s but they were not necessarily the advancesà that would warrant the term ââ¬Ëgolden yearsââ¬â¢. The political calm was only due to a lack of serious opposition to the government but still they could not successfully form an effective coalition government and whilst the economy did improve in this time the provisions made were short-sighted and the country was over-reliant on foreign investments. Whilst social progress was made in this era it is easy to see that the progress wasnot in the name of democracy and presented the Weimar government with future problems as popular ideology differed from what they promoted.

The Importance of Literary Trash :: Personal Narrative Essays
The Importance of Literary Trash I've heard it said that the goal of "serious literature" is to illuminate the human condition. If that is the case, the error of serious literature is that it is far too simple-minded and attempts to illuminate the human condition by portraying it directly. The great strength of myth, legend and their modern-day successor trashy genre fiction is that they don't just show us the human condition, but interpret, highlight and contrast it by showing us the larger than life symbols. The courage and romance that allows us to survive and to savor daily life are the core of myth and genre. There they are made larger than life and inspire us to aspire to a greatness that goes beyond simple daily experience. The other failing of modern "serious literature" is the failing of all modern art: art for art's sake. Modern art far too frequently is nothing more than the artist showing off the techniques they would use if they were ever to create a true work of art. And so we see the sense of color that they would use if they ever a picture and so on. Technique becomes all important and content is eschewed as distracting from the true art, meaning the simple skills and techniques. An irony of this great "art for art" mistake is that one of its first and most eloquent spokesmen, Theophile Gautier, put forth his position in the introduction of his romantic novel "Mademoiselle de Maupin", whose title character whose adventurous life would make a rip-roaring and thoroughly trashy adventure novel, if only the author had wished to actually tell a story. Jessica Amanda Salmonson, in her introduction to "Amazons II", gives us a two-page summary of the life, loves, and adventures of the historical "La Maupin", actress, duelist and lover that is both exciting and tantalizing, and which has at least as much plot in its 2 pages as Gautier's novel. Stephen Donalson claimed at the second World Fantasy Convention (or was it the third?) that he never read any non-fiction because all of the great insights that people told him they got from non-fiction works he had found long before in fictional tales. From context, it was clear that much of that fiction was fantasy and science fiction. While I won't go as far as Donalson, his point is similar to my own.

Review Your Role, Responsibilities and Boundaries as a Teacher
| Review your role, responsibilities and boundaries as a teacher would be in terms of the teaching/training cycle. | 631 words| | Alan Marshall| | 28/01/2012 | L. Walklin (1990) ââ¬Å"The roles and responsibilities of a teacher evolve with time and circumstance. It is impossible to give a rigid definition of either as they change constantly, though there are some roles and responsibilities that are common to all teachers throughout the education system. It is hard to know where the roles and responsibilities of a teacher should stop and I feel is each teacherââ¬â¢s responsibility to know the boundaries. There exists a misconception that the only skill required to be a teacher is the ability to teach, but it goes far beyond this. A teacher must be multi-faceted. â⬠It is important to identify the difference between roles, responsibilities and boundaries. In order to do this the teacher should look at the dictionary definitions. Collins Dictionaries(1999) ââ¬Å"Role: Usual function, capacity, duty, function, job, part, position, post, task: what is his role in the organisation? â⬠ââ¬Å"Responsibility: A person or thing for which one is responsible. In authority, in charge, in control, accountable, answerable, duty bound. A thing which one is required to do as part of a job, role, or legal obligationâ⬠ââ¬Å"Boundary: Something that indicates the farthest limit. A limit of something abstract, especially a subject or sphere of activityâ⬠Therefore responsibilities fit within roles and boundaries would include things such as maintaining professional relationships and taking care with communication methods (and increasingly social media use). To deal with each in order, the role of a teacher is primarily creating and facilitating opportunities for learning and will include: Schemes of work, lesson planning, finding and preparing materials, subject research. Record keeping is also an important role to ensure compliance with awarding and funding body regulation and legislation. This would include: Attendance registers, learner and teacher assessment and of course, reports. Some of the responsibilities of a teacher are: Health and safety. An example of this would be fire regulations and the pointing out of fire exits, and assembly points. Teachers are individually and collectively responsible for the safety of everyone whilst at the place of learning. Equal opportunities, promoting equality of all, regardless of age, gender and culture. Teachers need to examine their own behaviour to ensure they are not discriminatory and politically correct. Special needs. A teacher should also be aware of students with special needs and advocate conditions for their success. Continuous professional development; keeping yourself up to date in both teaching and your field of expertise. Maintaining high standards in your work and conduct, both in and out of the workplace. Complying with the rules of the organisation you are part of as well as legislation and codes of practice. The boundaries for any teaching role will include: Professional behaviour. A teachers professional values, rights, and responsibilities are more important than any sense of needing to be liked by others, needing to please others, or needing to make a good impression. As a teacher, discretion is required regarding what, where, and to whom personal information is disclosed. A teacher should both model and teach appropriate boundaries. The teaching environment such as the type of student and the subject will influence whether or not touching is appropriate. In short, the teacher is responsible for eliminating any possible misunderstanding. The teaching/training cycle is about identifying needs, planning and designing, delivering and facilitating, assessing and finally evaluating before it all starts again. Becoming a professional is an on-going process. A teacher should allow time each day for self-examination and reflection. Teachers need to continually assess their own personal behaviour, learn from their experiences, and realize that they will always be faced with unpredictable challenges. This system of continual improvement is known in industry as ââ¬Å"Kaisenâ⬠but is equally applicable to the teaching profession. Advantages and Disadvantages of the Unitary, Confederation...
Advantages and Disadvantages of the Unitary, Confederation and the Federal system of the Government We can look at governmental systems as a continuum from a unitary type to a confederacy with federalism sitting in the middle. The unitary government is often described as a centralized government. It is a government in which all powers held by the government belong to a single, central agency. The central government creates local units of government for its own convenience. Most of the government in the world are unitary, Great Britain being one of them. One single central organ is Parliament it holds all the power of the British government. Local governments do exist but solely to relieve Parliament of burdens it could performâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The disadvantages are weakness of central government it makes it unable to enforce laws or collect taxes, also lack of unity and common laws. Lastly we move to federal government this is one in which the powers of government is divided between a central government and several local governments. There is a authority superior to both the central and local governments which makes this division of powers on a geographic basis; That division cannot be changed by either the local or national level acting alone. Both levels of government act directly on the people through their own sets of laws, the officials, and agencies. In the United States, for example the National Government has certain powers and the 50 states have others. This division of powers is set out in the Constitution of the United States. However federal government also has the advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of the Federal unity is that local government handles local problems also the local government and officials have to be very responsive of the people who elect them. The central government can devote more time and energy to national and inte rnational problems. They also have more opportunities for participation in making decisions that influence what is taught in the schools, also deciding where highways and government projects are to be built.
